Intro to Opera for Children
Manhattan Lyric Opera presents Intro to Opera for Children and Young Adults first presented at The Bronxville Library on December 22, 2014. Children were encouraged to volunteer and participate by acting (not singing) in supporting roles in four classic opera scenes. Four scenes presented were: The Fairy scene from Falstaff by G. Verdi (Sul Fil D’un Soffio Etesio), The Jewel scene from Faust by C. Gounod (Ah! Je Ris), The Doll song from Tales of Hoffmann by J. Offenbach (Les Oiseaux dans la charmille) and Poor Wandering One from The Pirates of Penzance by S. A. Sullivan. Costumes and props and stage instruction was provided by Manhattan Lyric Opera company.
